Awesome! Can't wait to see 'em :) We had temps going up to 108 for a few days. Mulch and rigged shade helped some. Lost a couple some carrots, though.

Just make sure to work the ashes into the soil a bit, otherwise you risk making lye when you water. Chicken poo is almost as magical as unicorns.

The chicken wire works great, except for the cats climbing it like a jungle gym. Luckily the peas use each other to trellis on as well. The chicken wire also works great (as was its original intention)

I think a part of last year's problem was that I fertilized them almost exclusively with fish emulsion and it's got a high nitrogen ratio compared to potash and potassium, which is really what the tomatoes
