To be quite honest, I decided to leave my 6 years of shipping life because I was sick and tired of leading the kind of life a seafarer would lead. Meaning no actual life, it was a virtual world a seafarer would create. No real boyfriend, making one but when you have to transfer to another ship, you get separated and you end up with another. That’s why most seafarers would say, what happens in the sea, stays in the sea (a virtual world).
I knew this was not the kind of life I was looking for. First of all I had to complete my studies and get a stable job before I decide to get settled down. So here I am in Australia once again as an international student.
If you are wondering why be an overseas student in a foreign country and not student in your own country.
To tell the truth, all my life I have never studied in my country, I have always been staying overseas. 22 years in Singapore, 3 years in Uk, 6 years travelling around the world working in the ship. So, never had an opportunity to study in my own country and therefore I was comfortable with an overseas life rather than life in my own country. I know how sad it sound but that's the truth about how I am leading my life. I feel like a foreigner in my own country.
