Un puente de la Mujer hecho con botellas de amor/ A Women's Bridge made with bottles of love

Probablemente en Argentina es muy conocida la existencia del llamado Puente de la Mujer, ubicado en la zona de Puerto Madero, pero quizás el resto del mundo ignora su existencia y la importancia que tiene no solo como estructura, sino también en la psiquis del género femenino.

Mi primera impresión al llegar, no fue ni siquiera el puente, sino el mensaje que está de fondo: un mural que enumera algunas de los sinónimos, con los que suelen calificar a las mujeres. Pero lo mejor es uno de los paneles que dice: "No puedes vivir sin nosotras".

Esa frase contundente dio inicio a mi paseo por este lugar turístico, muy visitado por extranjeros en Buenos Aires. Y es que honestamente, la vida empieza en el cuerpo de una mujer, aunque muchos hombres lo olviden a conveniencia.

Este puente, inaugurado el 20 de diciembre de 2001, es una obra del arquitecto español Santiago Calatrava que se encuentra sobre el arroyo de Pergamino, y que emula a uno de los pasos de tango, cuando la mujer estira su pierna mientras es sostenida por su pareja.

Todo esto da mucho para pensar: las mujeres somos poderosas, pero de la mano de un compañero, podemos lograr mucho más.

Justo en medio de esta estructura, un grupo de bailarines deleitaban a quienes pasaban con sus vestimentas y pasos de tango. Esto simplemente me encantó: ver como entre un mundo deleitado por la tecnología y la pseudo-música moderna, todavía hay jóvenes que valoran las tradiciones y las exponen al mundo para que no caigan en el olvido.

Al inicio del puente, se encuentra ubicada parte de la información relacionada a esta estructura, y lo que me llamó poderosamente la atención fue el dato de que su construcción está hecha con 100.000 botellas PET, por lo que su aporte al saneamiento del planeta, lo hace mucho más atractivo para mi.

Crucé el puente de punta a punta, viendo el arroyo en todo su esplendor y disfrutando de un sol hermoso, que animaba a compartir al aire libre sin generar un calor como usualmente pasa en verano. En la esquina opuesta, una mujer cantaba temas románticos, y eso me hizo quedarme un rato escuchando su voz melodiosa mientras fotografiaba a la fragata que se encuentra atrancada y que es un museo histórico que lamentablemente estaba cerrado ese día.

Muchos locales para comer y beber se encuentran de lado y lado, pero con solo polillas en la cartera, no compré nada! Aunque a decir verdad, siendo zona turística, los precios resultaban más elevados que en otros sitios de la ciudad.

Así que luego de un buen rato de paseo en solitario, ya que mi acompañante habitual inició sus clases, regresé a casa con un bronceado natural, sin un peso en el bolsillo, pero con una ganancia enorme entre fotos, aire puro, conocimientos nuevos y energías renovadas.

Qué más podía pedir?

The existence of the so-called Puente de la Mujer, located in the area of Puerto Madero, is probably well known in Argentina, but perhaps the rest of the world is unaware of its existence and the importance it has not only as a structure but also in the psyche of the female gender.

My first impression upon arrival was not even the bridge, but the message in the background: a mural listing some of the synonyms used to describe women. But the best part is one of the panels that says: "You cannot live without us."

That bold statement sparked my journey through this tourist spot, very popular among foreigners in Buenos Aires. And honestly, life begins in a woman's body, although many men conveniently forget that fact.

This bridge, inaugurated on December 20, 2001, is a work by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, located over the Pergamino stream, and it emulates one of the tango steps, where the woman stretches her leg while being held by her partner.

All of this gives much to think about: women are powerful, but hand in hand with a companion, we can achieve much more.

Right in the middle of this structure, a group of dancers delighted passersby with their attire and tango steps. This simply enchanted me: seeing how amidst a world captivated by technology and pseudo-modern music, there are still young people who value traditions and showcase them to the world to prevent them from being forgotten.

At the start of the bridge, part of the information related to this structure is located, and what caught my attention was the fact that it is constructed with 100,000 PET bottles, making its contribution to planet sanitation much more attractive to me.

I crossed the bridge from end to end, gazing at the stream in all its splendor and enjoying the beautiful sun, encouraging outdoor sharing without the usual intense heat of summer. At the opposite corner, a woman sang romantic songs, and I stayed a while listening to her melodious voice while photographing the frigate which is stuck and serves as a historical museum, unfortunately closed that day.

Numerous dining and drinking establishments line both sides, but with only moths in my wallet, I didn't purchase anything! Although truth be told, being a tourist area, the prices were higher than in other parts of the city.

So after a good while of solo wandering, since my usual companion had started their classes, I returned home with a natural tan, without a penny in my pocket, but with a great gain in photos, fresh air, new knowledge, and renewed energy.

What more could I ask for?
