Your apology is thin wine
invisible ink
unfired bricks

debris in the heap

You’re a bulldozer
look back and see
the rubble mound

China shards and doll parts
bottled venom and soured grapes
broken dreams acidly mourned

A graven queen’s throne
A high harlot's trot
A witch's knot

Mother-sewn costumes
snagged threads
in your plot

Your bitterness is a thin veil
grey on black
red cinder

tar underfoot

It’s going to take time
to dig out from under
all this brick and mortar

I won’t read your invisible ink
