As we wrote in one of our previous post, we perfectly know how important are the colours for artists and creative people.

Today we want to share with you some curiosities about  the red.

Red, with green and blue, is one of the primary colours in the RGB (red green blue) color system.

Red have many shades, from pink to maroon, and it's the complementary of cyan.

As you know, the blood is red, so this colour is often associated with sacrifices, but also with the passion ^_^

In some countries, the red is a symbol of good fortune. For example, here in Italy we use little red horns to whish good luck.

Ruby (a shade of red) is the color of the gemstone ruby, Burgundy (another shade of red) is a dark wine known in French and in Italy as Bordeaux.

A pigment of red lead was used in the Middle Age for the miniatures in Persian, Indian and  European art.

The plant Rubia tinctorum  can be used to produce the common red dye.
