I see no reason why users shouldn't be responsible for their own actions

OK we can agree to disagree about one time mistakes being punished eternally. Seems harsh but sounds like that is a firm line for you.

What about victims of rape, pedophilia, sex trafficking, sex slavery ...

What about the people who are filmed in hotels/motels, AirBnB, gyms?

... or just plain identity theft and doxxing?

Human stupidity and ignorance will remain abundant for as long as we deprive these people of any responsibility.

People you care about, they never ever make mistakes online?

My two aunts from different sides of my family got a very convincing phone call supposedly from my brother saying he was locked up in mexico and needed bail money but he specifically requested nobody tell my parents. Fortunately they checked with me, otherwise they would have wired money to scammers because they care and the seeming risk was lower than the risk of leaving him in a bad situation.

Anyone who believes humans can be error free has not many many! 😆
