As someone who has managed communities and communication before the difference and benefits simply can't be overlooked.

As have I, which means I have seen people accidentally and maliciously share things and work hard to get those things suppressed ... which is not possible in an immutable system.

Sure, and if people stopped committing crimes, that would be cool too. Back in the real world though people do things and we can predict the ramifications of them.
