"The beautiful one has arrived" was her name, and despite her political and spiritual importance as a reformer of the Egyptian religious system alongside her husband, Akhenaten, Nefer is synonymous with stylization and elegance and has transcended for that reason.
For this sketch, also part of my Vogue series, I wanted to capture Queen Nefertiti in private, overwhelmed by responsibilities, feeling fragile, an ordinary woman even though she wore the same hemhen crown that only one other woman had worn some time before: Queen Hatshepsut after proclaiming herself pharaoh.
Friends of #Sketchbook, I hope you can also appreciate this work, which I don't consider finished because I still want to work on the low tones and distinguish areas of contrast in chiaroscuro. However, I still consider it worth sharing the process up to this point. I'll bring you the progress another time.
