Syed Nazrul Islam was born in 1925 in Kishoreganj district.
In 1971, he was appointed Vice President of independent Bangladesh government formed in Mujibnagar.
During the liberation war, he served as the acting president.
In 1975, he made the Vice-President of Bangladesh.
On November 3, 1975, he was brutally killed in Dhaka Central Jail.
