You don't need a script. Just change the version in .env file. Though 1.28.7 is not pushed yet on and will have to wait for @gtg to do that.

For a full fledged RPC node, you can run 4TB will be enough but you have to set up ZFS with LZ4 compression. The above repository has everything needed. It will seem complicated if you are not familiar

This post is way too old and nowadays docker is the way to go. What do you mean by a full node? Try asking in discord or MM for a better response.
