One thing we have been discussing recently is what van to get! this key question is probably the most important thing we can decide...Anything that goes inside can be changed, the van cant so we need to get this right, there will be no second chances!
Firstly we need to decide how we will use the van to find what one might be the most suitable.
Weighing up the pros and cons...
Lets take a look at some vans and some of there pros and cons!
Vauxhall Vivaro ( but a newer one this one is quite old..)
pros - Cheap to buy, cheap to run, good fuel economy
cons - quite narrow, low roof only
ford transit custom (this one is modified, bodykit ect..)
pros - looks great, tons of customisation options, very car like to drive, good fuel economy
cons - expensive,
Same van with a higher roof, same pros and cons...
vauxhall movano, Renault master, sprinter ect
pros - high roofs, long bodys, can stand up fully, great view of the road from elevated driving position.
cons - lower fuel economy, harder to park, cant get into some carparks due to roof height.
The considerations
We have to consider how we will use the van, this is a replacement for our car and something to use for occasional trips away and as a home base on days out - it is not a full time living solution. So we need to try and decide if we really need the extra length of a long wheelbase or the extra height of a high roof. We live in a suburban area and parking can be challenging.
I really like the transit customs but I feel they may be a bit out of price range, the larger vans are awesome but I feel might be a bit to hard to live with day to day...I am currently leaning towards something like the first van but a new version.
Only time will tell be this is where we are at right now.
Next blog post will be showing of our new Gadget:)
