How can i give advice i didn't take?

Over time older folks dish out advice to younger ones often time it is discovered that he or she doesn't actually didn't work with the advice probably when he or she was told or advices and this as been generational problem that needed to be solve.

Older folks doesn't need to have taken the particular advice for him or her to be qualify to advice younger ones.

And this is happening to me right now. My younger brother is towing that path I do regret I once pass... This brought the question.
