Now, it's not uncommon for the buzzer to my door to buzz, every so often… Living in Hells Kitchen just a stones throw away from Times Square I get all sorts of weirdos.., trying to get into my little 4 story walk-up building.
But this night, it was not some weirdo.., it was a very good, old friend from Los Angeles.., that decided to surprise me… It had been about a year since the last time we had seen each other…
(last time we were out together)
"Come on, get dressed Im taking you out to dinner -- " she said… To say I was more than a bit surprised, is a massive understatement, I had not heard from her in months… When I lived in Los Angeles we were very tight -- really good friends (a little more than friends).., and I had done her quite a few favors (a lot of favors) back then -- she crashed at my place for almost a month, borrowed my car quite a few times.., and when she was having problems with a abusive ex-boyfriend, I made it clear (very clear) to him never to contact her again…
She was, and is, a good girl that just needed a friend at the time…
So, on her unexpected trip to NY.., she decided to surprise me with this dinner invitation… We hopped in a cab and pulled up to a very cool steakhouse on 9th ave (this is one of the only women I knew in LA that loved steak!).
While she was in the restroom.., I called a cocktail waitress I used to work with at a very nice bar not too far away and asked her to set me up a table with some champagne and candles -- the whole bit…
When dinner was over, I told her -- "Okay, now I have a surprise for you…"
We walked into the bar.., and immediately were escorted right over to a beautiful table all set up with champagne and candles -- very romantic…
While the champagne was still chilling, we grabbed the two cocktail waitress's and stepped outside to puff-up some of that amazing herb, to thank the girls for hooking us up with the best table in the house. An when we returned, the light were turned down.., to set the mood…
What was going to be a night spent at home alone.., turned out to be one amazing evenng with a good friend, good food and drink -- and killer weed.. I miss spontaneous nights like that, they don't come around too often these days… People always want to make plans, send a gazillion texts, get an uber -- blah, blah, blah… Besides the company of a beautiful 5'10 blonde woman.., and all the other goodies we enjoyed that night -- it was the spontaneity that made it so special… Cheers!
