People put money into it and as an investor like in stocks, one gets shares in the company. One need the company to stand on their toes. If I am not happy and cash out, the company decreases in value. A very democratic way of holding a company at place and keep a good value. I think it is like that many look at it... if people invest money in something and spreading the word, I can agree there are some responsabilities to ask for back...
