I've been binge-watching The Expanse, and there is a lot that I like about the show. It is quite believable, at least in political and "probable future" departments, there is the oppressed class longing for independence, there is a struggle for unity, there is... lots of things. But especially relevant are quotes like:
"Earthers can't look upon a thing but wonder who it belongs to. To make it their possession"
This sounds so much like first days of USA, when people escaped oppression of old countries and wanted just to... be free. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, because us humans do not deserve anything less than that. And then there is the idea of "the Belt way", of sharing instead of possessing, of not wasting anything and not taking anything for granted. And what is underlined is that we the Earthers do not appreciate and casually destroy what we got. What we "have", as if we were the kings of the universe.
It would be awesome if we took to the stars our great human spirit only, not collective madness of politics, economy and ideology (of any kind).
And for the commercially inclined, poor souls, there are great business opportunities created by this show - it is going to have big number of followers :)
