Did you ever think that the Pink Panther character was too good to not be true? An elusive and mysterious thief. A bumbling, but some how effective, detective. And why France?
He was an under 20 years of age Frenchman when the first Pink Panther movie hit the big screen. Probably a brilliant mind, he built an empire from nothing. And like the theft of the infamous Pink Panther diamond, there is an heir of boasting that accompanies unmatched skill.
The same first name? OK, so maybe Jacques is common.
What kind of thief writes a book about his exploits? Certainly someone with an active imagination. Undeniably, the Pink Panther brought that fancy to the world.
Whoever pulled off France's 'heist of the century' must have mastered their trade. A good portion of the Pink Panther movie develops the character's mastery beyond what is thought possible in this world.
It all could just be a coincidence. A sly operator in France which just happens to be home to the greatest motion picture thief. Has art imitated life or is this just the case of a young dreamer taking things a bit too far?
But tell me, when watching the movie, didn't something always feel off; like the Pink Panther could somehow be Jacques Clouseau. Ask someone who has only ever seen the first third of the film of what they think of the detective's role.
Other's have taken the name Pink Panthers, but do they deserve it just because they were good thieves. Isn't there an heir of a legend surround the name? One that is more than a title, but akin to a force.
