It doesn't take me long to start indulging in caffeine again. I tried to quit but today is my first day after more than a week not having any caffeine in my veins.

But before that, my mom and I went to get tested for covid-19 as we're about to travel soon back to my apartment. Unfortunately, there was a little drama in the testing site because the lady at the counter raised her tone at my mom while explaining how the testing system works. We were clueless about it and asked questions but the lady didn't seem to like questions. In a nutshell, my mom and I were too early to get the test as the new system requires us to get tested at maximum three days prior our departure. It was hot ,I was annoyed, and I needed caffeine fix.

After a little drama there, I screened through coffee shops I've not visited in town and I found Urup Kaffee & Creative Hub. This place is hidden among locals' houses and is slightly out of town. Like many places I visited, this serves regular coffee shops menu with some main course and snacks.

What I like about this place is the aesthetic. This place is located at a typical old Indonesian house. There is not much work done in the house other than the painting is fresh and it's decorated with flowery porcelains.

I like how they choose the color. I never thought that white would look warm. But paired with green, pastel green, the place was quite cozy.

They also provide board and card games that you can play with your friends or mom, lke in my case; my mom is also my friend 馃槃

In the counter, you can spot Buddha statue and some flower pots for sale. It was an interesting sight because that's the first time I saw Buddha statue in a cafe or coffee shop.

Unfortunately, I can't order coffee. So my mom and I ordered lemon tea and matcha. She's not a coffee drinker but really loves lemon or lychee tea. We also ordered a snack bucket because it was already lunch time.

The matcha in this place is quite decent compared many cafe I've been to. At least they are not using low quality matcha. But it was unfortunate that the snack bucket was too peppery. I can't really eat anything there. Even the meal I ordered was too peppery. I was having bad mood and now I can't eat the food.

In that place, we were playing jenga. It was the first time my mom played it and she found it fascinating. It was really fun and we had laugh because the tower fell. In this place, other than chairs and table, there are also rooms, supposedly for small meetings. The small rooms are equipped with AC and also power socket. So, it was actually quite decent to work from there.

The decoration in this place is quite aesthetic and has ethic vibes to it. It gives clean yet artistic look to the room. There are also some artificial flowers in the wall and also succulents pots.

As you can see in the second picture, this place has a swing. It was peaceful sitting there feeling the summer breeze.

Normally, when I do coffee date with my mom, we would have chit chat about things from finance, philosophy, sociology, politics, to even psychology. Our most recent discussion was related to "Why do some people consider living with their parent/parents as nightmare-ish experience?"

It was something I asked around the previous day. Freedom was one of the keyword that some people told me. They feel like they have no freedom. Then my mom asked me, "how do they define freedom?" which is something that I forgot to ask to my respondents. So, when you live with your parents, how do you define freedom?

From my experience, I told her that I feel more freedom at home than at my apartment. Since at my apartment, I have to share the kitchen, the bathroom and the common room. I don't have night time schedule at home as well, as long as my mom knows where I am going even if I lied 馃ぃ, it's okay for her. I am also free to use everything, I have my own space, and people treat me like an adult. She is okay that I can leave at any moment to wherever I may roam.

Many of my respondent answered that their parents are quite nosey. Some of them can't have friends over whereas for me, our family like to host people. We have this mi casa su casa mentality. We're nice people if you're nice but we're not going to be nice if you're not nice to us 馃槀; just some basic common sense and decency.

When it comes to politics, our family is no different. We have our differences but that doesn't divide us. For instance, my mom and I are the type who think before we vote whereas my dad is going to always choose anyone with a military background. During the political season, we always have some discussion here and there. But we have this one rule to respect whatever choices we make. As a child, I use to think my family was quite horrible with some of their rules to discipline me. But as I grow up and met many people, I am grateful to have my parents. They treat me like an adult and there were no rules anymore, only common sense. Thus far, living with them has been quite pleasant except the city sucks because there's no bar, no malls, and I have to either order or go far just to get some beers.

Since I am going back next week, I could finally find things that this city doesn't have and indulge in some of it 馃槉 anyway, that's how normally my coffee date with my mom goes. I hope she's never growing old because she's really a fun person to be with and I have someone to accompany to explore coffee shops all around the country.
