I had bad experience with buying secondhand even when I was going to the store itself to check. Apparently, it only takes 3 weeks before I was replacing everything from the laptop. I would agree with your partner because buying new would last longer and sometimes the prices aren't that different with the used ones. I hope this or next year, you'd be able to upgrade to newer one!
