Before my class started this afternoon, some notes I want to make public on what I thought about the current state of AI recently.
My views on AI changed especially after I got an exposure into different industries e.g. on energy, green business and city building.
Even during my classes, I have a simple rule " they can use AI but they have to be able to explain the concept to me". I am not heavily against it in teaching my classes. In the end even if they use chatgpt, if they can't explain it to me back, it's useless.
In the end, I realized that AI just acts as an assistant and these students still need someone to explain things to them in way that makes sense.
So far, I think AI couldn't really solve heavy bureaucracy system. So, as long as those system are in place, jobs relating to assisting people navigating complicated bureaucracy would still exist.
There is so much potentials on AI and I got inspired from Jensen Huang's on 5 layers on AI which is Energy, Chips and Computing, Infrastucture, AI models, and applications. Most people here would stay in AI models and applications. Most people I know are also within those layers but the new people I know are on layer 1 and 3.
My current and future frontier is on energy and infrastructure. There's so much to work on there especially if in the future a country want to build their own data centers and grid energy expansion.
We're mostly exposed on the software side of AI and honestly I am excited what the future has in store for AI and its capability especially how its used in infrastructure and construction.
I definitely still have so much to learn but I finally learn how to solve "bigger" question rather than "smaller" questions.
I got more interested into the intersection between public vs private blockchain especially on energy and carbon trading. These days it's already being used but I just want to make sense of it all.
There's definitely promising market. I haven't really explored energy/carbon trading but there's KlimaDao that so far I know which makes it accessible for regular users like myself to get into carbon market. Definitely interesting stuff.
