Lately, I've been learning some photography basic tips and trick. Not that I have a proper camera yet but I thought knowing the basics would help me improve the quality of my shots. So, last night, I stayed awake trying to shot the transition from night to dawn. I was using a Redmi 5A with 13MP camera but I would say, the result isn't satisfying enough in comparison with Samsung A3 which only has 5MP camera. Anyhow, here's some tips I learned that I tried to incorporate into these shots.
One the first tips I learn is using Low to Mid-range settings to shoot sunrise. I use 200-800 ISO in these shots.
However, this is the tips only for shooting dawn object. I have yet to learn shooting for daytime 馃槄 we'll get to that later.
Activate gridlines
I always thought having gridlines is nuisance. However, I learned a rule called " The rule of thirds" which help us position elements in the picture. If you don't activate gridlines, you can imagine the frame has a square in the center. Though it will be easier to just activate it especially for beginners like me. Avoid Zooming in
Since the object I tried to capture is far away, I was very tempted to zoom in and I did. I realized it made the picture pixelated and rather blurry. Below is an example of not zooming in but bad composition.
When I tried telling my cousin about these new things I learned, he ignored it and convinced me that I could simply use automatic HDR without caring about ISO and other aspects such as focus and composition. Anyway, today's session was fun and I am looking to try these tips again when I am out.
