Ink drawing, Hahnemühle Mixed Media paper 310 g/m² 21x16 cm, 2021

The official prompt of day 23 was - leak. For some reason, I thought that potion leaking out of the bottle would be the correct way of using the word. But, I am not a native speaker. Halfway through my artwork, I was told I had misunderstood the meaning of the word. The scene I had portrayed was more suitable for the word spill. Oh, well! I wasn’t going to toss it at that point. Besides, this challenge is about sparking creativity and creating every day in October. And that I did!

The process

Someone raided the old wizard’s potion cabinet and knocked over the blue galaxy potion! It is leaking all over the table. How naughty! Now everyone close is smiling euphorically or running around chasing unicorns! What now?

I felt inspired by the shape of the Diamine fountain pen ink bottles. They look like potion bottles to me, and I love having them out on the table all the time. I will, perhaps, share my table set up later. There are a lot of witchy vibes happening there. I placed one of them in the position I wanted to draw my bottle and used it as a reference.

Tools that I used for this artwork - Faber-Castell pencil 2b for the sketching part; Pigma Brush pen for the outlines; Pigma Micron fine liner 03 and Sakura Gelly Roll 08 for the shadowy dots and highlight dots, and stars; the Diamine calligraphy/drawing inks Teal and Peacock for the blue galaxy potion.

I love these bright colors, and they blend so nicely as well!

When was the last time you chased unicorns?
