Helmet - Ink drawing, paper size 21x16 cm, 2021
The old diving helmets were very odd-looking, chunky, and lacked mobility, which is why they had multiple portholes to peek through as you moved your head within them. I wanted to incorporate them in my helmet version too. At the same time, I imagine mine has a bit more mobility to it as it is pointing upwards and moves along the head movements instead of being stationary.
I can only imagine someone looking at this one without any explanation thinking it is some strange alien with two giant jelly eyes! xD Anyhow, I used three different Diamine inks - the blue one is Diamine shimmer ink called Arabian Nights, the green one is Diamine fountain pen ink called Sherwood Green, and the gray tones were achieved with Diamine jet black drawing ink. I went over the sketch and added shading with a Pigma brush pen. I lined jellyfishies with Pigma Micron fine liner 03. Finally, I added bubbles all over it and some detailing in the jellies with the white Gelly roll fine liner 08.
Bubbles and way down it goes!
