Between June 12th and June 26th, Ambigu Gallery hosts its "Summer of colours" group exhibition. I am one of the ten exhibiting artists. The photo above was taken at vernissage evening, on June 12th.
What you can see behind me is my ocean inspired series. You may remember some of the acrylic artworks from the previous posts : "Underwater Waterfall" (20"x20"), "Abyssal Depths"(20"x20"), "Waves"(15"x30"), "Climate Change" (24"x24") and "Winds of change"(24"x20").
Everything went great that evening: over hundred people showed up! There was live music, great ambiance, art lovers, inspiring conversations, amazing artworks and that feeling that things are going back to normal. I even sold an artwork and received two commissions. I couldn't have asked for more!
"Low Tide" (20"x20") is my latest addition to the ocean series and it's currently exhibited at the gallery, replacing the one that got sold.
I was really happy to see that people liked my fluid art. Most of those who knew I switched careers and became an artist, were used to see my figurative works. Presenting abstract fluid artworks definitely made a statement.
In addition, since I had two vernissages back to back, one on Friday the other one on Saturday, and I exhibited two different styles at the venues, got me more visibility. It certainly helped showing that I can do both quite well. ;0)
At one moment, a person that attended both of my vernissages asked me if I have multiple personality. I found her question amusing, but she seemed to be serious as she continued to explain to me that normally people don't excell on both styles. Usually it's one or the other. I took that as a compliment and thanked her for interest in my work.
