Sarawak artist and their artwork

Meet Noel Belulok, one of my ex colleagues who I used to work with in school for a couple of years. His art is special. He specializes on batik art.

This is him. He's a really nice person. His art work usually are sold to westerners who are in the country during festivals such as the Sarawak Rainforest world music that has been held annually here in Miri until the pandemic halted everything.

Musicians from all over the world come here to present their music. There was once that I heard a german capella band who created the sounds of the forest just with their vocals. Amazing.

If you do plan to visit Miri city, come if there is this festival. It's worth the experience.

Most Sarawakians here have their own piece of land that is out of the city where a variety of harvest crops are grown. This is him with his home made wooden basket.

SRI PASAR TANI

It's an artwork on batik cloth. Batik cloth has a similar texture to silk. This artwork depicts a market where harvest is sold.

Local fishes

There are outdoor water activities here in the city. Diving, snorkeling and etc. These are some of the fishes that are found here. The industry is small so the environment is intact and are mostly in pristine state.

If you were to buy this work, how much would it cost? I think around USD 150 to 200. Usually , that's how much he sells each of these paintings. Highly collectible. I will have to introduce to him NFTs in the future.

His work always has his signature. Vibrant colours . Animals. Hornbills. His favourite are hornbills and flowers.
