It is hard not to post these updates right after I stream, I get so excited about what we're working on. February is the month of silk. We began the month by making our own silk mawata. Then, last night, we dyed some mawata. We'll spin some of these on stream and put some of them into my shop.
Also a public service announcement... do as I say, not as I do. Wear gloves when you dye. I usually get annoyed with my gloves about halfway through and take them off. I don't personally care about blue fingers, but others might, and depending on what dyes you're using, there may be chemicals or heavy metals in them that can leech through the skin. If you're using a food safe dye, like food color or koolaid, you'll be fine, but when you dye, be aware of what comes in contact with your skin.
Next Tuesday, we're going to reel silk. I've already put out a post about reeling silk recently for anyone who wants a preview. It should be fun.
