With God by your side, you never truly do stand 'all alone'! God is both a friend and an abode for all. With this in mind, the first stanza can be seen as a scream for help - an indirect prayer to God in truth - in which you address how lost and alone you feel, like you have fallen off the path of love. However, the opening word of the second stanza - 'Yet' - is a symbol for God stepping in and, despite all, showcasing hope and shining a light onto your life; dispelling your darkness from within. The apparition of the very word 'God' in this stanza is enough to prove how the very presence of God is uplifting.

The usage of the word 'survive' is interesting yet slightly disappointing to me however. Personally, I would have used the words 'strive' - a suiting word which indicates the commencement of a journey toward the greater good.

'Yet I shall not fear
and shall survive,
because my God
stands by my side.'
