Awesome! I really love Sri Lanka! I went there back in 2010 and really loved it everything about it. What you mentioned about the locals there, that despite being poor, they radiate some sort of positive and blissful energy is what stood out the most to me.

I was walking out of the hostel I was staying at one day when I saw a man along the side of the road with a rake collecting leaves that fell onto the road. He was shirtless, in his 50s, maybe 60s, and had a huge smile on his face. Suddenly, a man on a bike was passing by and stopped right next to him, greeted him and began a conversation. They talked for quite some time and looked like they hadn't a worry in the world. Life was so simple in that very moment.

There is some sort of joy and freedom that comes with poverty. Yes, it is a terrible thing and I am not saying poverty is good, but just as you said, these people seem 'happy enough with their lot.'

Thank you so much for sharing! Next Thursday I am going to be posting an article on my travel to Sri Lanka! This week, I posted a passage from my diary about my one day trip to Liverpool. If you are interested in reading some of it, you can find it here.

Thanks once again!

Luka.
