It's a beautiful yet daunting thought that we live in a dream, but it is the truth. In a way, our reality is nothing but an illusion in a sense that the thoughts that pass through our heads crossover each other and create the illusion of points forming, these points being the fabrics of our reality upon which we build our view of the world - that which is 'out there'.
I like how you call the illusory self the 'thought-made' self; it really condenses it all nicely.
I wrote an article recently about thoughts - What are thoughts? - in which I tried to simplify the truth that is that we are not the thoughts we experience.
