Wonderful! I really enjoyed reading about the forest practice you talk about. I often do something similar; exposing myself to a plethora of irrational fears that come up in my mind, facing them as they are, and working with them, not fighting them.
I have this idea, which I really think relates to this forest practice of yours; since the external world is nothing but a mere projection of the internal, then you can think of the earth and travelling it - going to different spots and areas on the planet - as your consciousness & being which you are exploring internally. If that is the case, then in your case, the forest is an area where fear resides, and thus going into it - 'everything sharpens and you see so much wildlife but there is no way out anymore - its just you and your fears' - you face those fears, literally.
Have you ever heard of David Icke? I think you would find his work really interesting, especially his newest book - Everything you need to know but have never been told.
Thanks for sharing!
I invite you over to read my new post on thoughts here if you are interested.
Namaste!
