Hello inhabitants of planet earth,

My good Steemian friends, I propose we make a movement. That is, to live sustainably and be better dwellers on our beloved planet. We are human beings, after all, the animal in the planet that can think critically and have the power of will. Since we are the highest form of species here, let us do something about it.

1

How? Follow these 2 steps:

2

One, always remember the ARK, not Noah's ship but the Act of Random Kindness.

The ecological theory of Tragedy of the Commons(which I discussed on my previous article) is utmost a negative notion which suggests that within a shared-resource system, individual users are acting independently according to their own self-interest behave contrary to the common good of all users by depleting or spoiling that resource through their collective action. Example? I cut a tree. Well, it is just one tree, so it should not be much of a difference. If I throw one candy wrapper, it would not pollute the environment because it is just one teeny-weeny candy wrapper. With that thinking, you are already wrong. Have you ever thought that what if everybody else is doing the same? Cutting trees and throwing candy wrappers. Do you know how much harm it can cause the environment? Drastic, and I tell you, very drastic.

Now, what if, using the same theory but on a different perspective(Tragedy of the Comoons)? You see, I always look at the other side, may it be good or bad. What if? Remembering the ARK, you would pick up a trash and keep it until you find a trash bin? What if you plant trees instead? What if for every destination and every travel, you carry just one plastic bag and fill it up with trashes you see in a mountain or an island for example. What if instead of using straws, you opt to drink directly from the glass? What if you nicely tell someone throwing trash improperly to have it thrown in their proper containers? What if you can tell someone not to purposedly step on plants or break twigs of trees along the streets? There are many deeds of kindness to mother nature that one can offer. You just have to start practicing it. The outcome? Great, the possibilities? Endless. So do at least one act of random kindness a day. Do something good and nothing could go wrong.

Second, be an influence to many.

People have the tendency to imitate and follow what is in front of them. It is a psychological effect that is seemingly unconscious to some. If you throw a plastic, chances are, people at your back will do the same. However, if you pick up a trash, there MIGHT be(I'm not saying this is for certain) someone from the back that would pick up a trash as well. People have conscience, you know. Now, in a macro scale, if you would start a group or a community of environmental-lovers, that would be a plus. If you initiate on your travel group to help conserve the surroundings, that is also a bonus. Imagine all of you picking up trash on your way up the mountains or along sandbars? That would help poor creatures like sea turtles or wild animals in the forests that would suffocate or poison them. My friends in Leyte(province in the Philippines) are collecting plastic bottles and making them into surfboards or rafts. They also thought of making them as alternatives for bricks used for construction.

If you are tasked to write an essay or a research paper, the introduction is always the hardest. Same applies to what is being meant here. To begin or start is the hardest, but it will come easy along the way. Be environmental-friendly and love your territory. Help save the environment!

Thank you
