Tombi! also known as “Tomba!” in some regions, is a platform, action-adventure video game created by Whoopee Camp Co. Ltd. and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation video game console, released in 1997.
Its creator was Tokuro Fujiwara, who also created the video games Ghosts'n Goblins and Mega Man.
This game immerses us in a colorful and fun-filled world where players assume the role of the intrepid and peculiar character named Tombi, a wild young man with pink hair who always wears shorts.
He embarks on an epic mission to recover a valuable object stolen by some evil pigs. Throughout his adventure, Tombi must explore vibrant environments, solve puzzles, defeat enemies and complete quests to advance the story and restore peace to his world.
One of Tombi's most distinctive features is its non-linear gameplay, which allows players to freely explore the world and discover hidden secrets around every corner. Levels are filled with creative and fun challenges, ranging from platforming to clever puzzles, that keep players entertained for hours.
In total there are 130 quests, of which only 70 are mandatory, 3 others were discarded, while the rest are not necessary to advance in the game, as they are side quests, but must be completed to complete the game 100%.
In addition to its innovative gameplay, Tombi stands out for its unique and charming visual aesthetic, which combines colorful and detailed graphics with fluid animation that brings the game world to life.
The upbeat and catchy soundtrack perfectly complements Tombi's cheerful and humorous atmosphere.
Tombi! also featured a sequel titled Tombi! 2: The Evil Swine Return in 1999.
