Behind their naivety, and behind the simplicity of their appearance, there are facts that can make us wonder about their presence and the way they sacrifice during the common ritual, namely marriage
What does it mean? It turns out that every adult Centadu grasshopper always performs a wedding ritual that makes us think long, why? Because every time he does this, he is willing to sacrifice for his lover even though his life is lost from his body, this is what makes us think.
Then what is the chronology? It turns out that the Centadu grasshopper is very well known for its very striking behavior, namely a form of sexual cannibalism, when having an intimate relationship. When the marriage ritual is carried out, the female Centadu grasshopper will bite the head or leg of the partner (male Centadu), then eat it. Then what about the victim, is he willing, of course before that happened every couple had gone through various things to get to the tragedy.
However, is every marriage between a man and a woman as mentioned above? This may have happened when entomologists were trying to observe it in a study, might have tracked it in a deliberately set up location, so they saw behavior like the one above, or female Centadu locusts would kill very males when they were done having sex.
These findings, can be justified with a number of good reasons, but not explained in this post. However, there is a new question about their life in the wild when they want to have a relationship in the form of marriage.
Do the Centadu grasshoppers in the wild assume that too?
It turns out that the incident in the wild itself, is very different from the incident in the research results, if the percentage has a 70% potential that does not practice cannibalism, in the sense that only 30% of each group of Centadu grasshoppers eats the male's body after finishing mating.
Then, what is the explanation or reason at the research site for saying the female became cannibalistic? It turns out that the Centadu grasshopper chosen by the team is that the female is very aggressive, this reason is also seen in females who are in the wild or who have an aggressive character will continue to eat every part of the male's body gradually.
While the Centadu grasshopper which does not have aggressive nature very rarely does the same thing as described above, and it is the female Centadu grasshopper that is often a struggle for fellow males. Therefore, many of the male Centadu grasshoppers always choose a female candidate or partner who does not have an aggressive nature (hiver) so it is very easy to carry out the mating ritual, and finally the male will be free to go elsewhere. When after completing intimate relationships, namely marriage.
This is also evidenced by local teammates in observing events in the field (wild) so they get information such as Only female Centadu grasshoppers that have aggressive traits become cannibalistic towards their partners while female Centadu grasshoppers who are not aggressive very rarely eat or become cannibalistic towards their partners.
The current Centadu grasshopper (seen in the picture) is a candidate pair that will be the result of research in the wild, the purpose of this observation is to find out the characteristics of the Centadu grasshopper which has an aggressive nature, meaning that this research still takes a long time.
The following are pictures of prospective Centadu grasshoppers that will be observed, the shape of the photo is intentionally changed to macrophotography, so that it is closer to see it.
The results of the observations that have been written above are accurate information, taken from the data of the local team as a research group in the field of entomology, especially the Centadu grasshopper.
