Es demasiado temprano para hacer manualidades de Navidad, apenas tomo en octubre, se supone que estamos en temática de Halloween. Pero acá hay personas que tienen la realidad bien alterada y para una tarea de clases, tenía que hacer algo de Navidad, así que este es el tutorial que les vengo a presentar el día de hoy. Les cuento de salud mental, ya que la profesora no se explicó para nada bien de lo que quería e inicialmente nos había pedido una caja plegable, navideña. Yo recuerdo que el día de la explicación, ella había comentado que no querían nada de pega, así que la verdad cuando estaba haciendo mi propuesta, me di cuenta de que iba a utilizar muchísima pega, así que decidí buscar otra opción y encontré este árbol de Navidad que se hace haciendo dobleces, estilo origami. Resulta que eso fue lo que estuve haciendo y la verdad me lo aprobaron, Así que les quiero compartir el proceso.

It's too early to be doing Christmas crafts; it's barely October, and we're supposed to be focusing on Halloween. But some people here have a very distorted view of reality, and for a class assignment, I had to make something Christmas-related, so this is the tutorial I'm presenting to you today. I'll tell you about mental health, since the teacher didn't explain very well what she wanted and initially asked us for a foldable Christmas box. I remember that on the day she gave the explanation, she said she didn't want anything with glue, so when I was working on my proposal, I realized I was going to use a lot of glue, so I decided to look for another option and found this Christmas tree that you make by folding it, origami style. That's what I ended up doing, and they approved it, so I want to share the process with you.

Para hacer este árbol de Navidad, estuve utilizando una cartulina como de unos 200 o 300 g, una cartulina gruesa, pero que se dejará manejar. Esta cartulina era con brillos por fuera de color verde y yo estuve utilizando una lámina de 40 × 40 cm. Luego estuve doblando la cartulina por la mitad, tanto vertical como horizontal y también en diagonal. En las imágenes que les estoy mostrando se puede ver mucho mejor qué fue lo que hice. Una vez que tuve estos dobleces, con lo que la lámina de cartulina en forma de diamante, y estuve haciendo dobleces hacia adentro para que quedara como un cuadrado. Después estuve doblando las esquinas hacia dentro, se estaban formando unos triángulos. Esto lo hice de ambos lados, y en el último lado, la parte que quedó sobrando la doble hacia adentro y hacia afuera para que se marcara bien. Un Tip que yo siempre utilizo, es que al momento de hacer el dobles, le paso por encima una regla, como para hacer bien el doble eso, que quede lo suficientemente marcado y a la hora de que necesite el doble final, no se vaya para todos lados y que den un solo lugar.

To make this Christmas tree, I used cardstock that was about 200 or 300 g, a thick cardstock, but one that is easy to handle. This cardstock was green with glitter on the outside, and I used a 40 × 40 cm sheet. Then I folded the cardstock in half, both vertically and horizontally, and also diagonally. You can see what I did much better in the pictures I'm showing you. Once I had these folds, with the sheet of cardstock in the shape of a diamond, I made folds inward so that it would look like a square. Then I folded the corners inward, forming triangles. I did this on both sides, and on the last side, I folded the excess part inwards and outwards so that it was well marked. A tip I always use is that when I make the folds, I run a ruler over them to make sure they are well marked and that when I need to make the final fold, they don't go in all directions and end up in one place.

Ya después, estuve abriendo por completo la cartulina, y empecé a meter los dobleces por dentro para ir armando lo que era el árbol. Se ve bastante raro, pero hay que buscarle la vuelta para poder doblarlo. Ya después lo que hice fue decorar, estuve utilizando un hilo grueso, dorado, lo corté en tres tamaños para hacer como unas guirnaldas. Y después recorté varios círculos de foami, escarchado, tanto dorado como rojo. Esto lo estuve colocando en sitios dispersos entre cada cara del árbol. Lo último que hice fueron unos orificios redondos, con un perforador, un orificio por cada lado del triángulo, por donde iba a pasar un hilo dorado, que al hacer un lazo iba a mantener cerrada esta caja.

Then, I opened up the cardboard completely and began folding the edges inward to assemble the tree. It looks quite strange, but you have to figure out how to fold it. Next, I decorated it using thick gold thread, which I cut into three different lengths to make garlands. Then I cut out several circles of gold and red foam. I placed these in scattered spots on each side of the tree. The last thing I did was make round holes with a hole punch, one hole on each side of the triangle, through which I would thread a gold string that would tie the box closed.

Obviamente, estuve llevando esto para clases, y como les mencioné anteriormente, me lo aprobaron, ya que cumplía con las expectativas de la profesora, lo cual fue demasiado genial, porque la mayoría de mis compañeras no pasaron la prueba. Esto no fue nada difícil de hacer, creo que lo complicado fue buscar una inspiración para poder hacer este diseño, pero la verdad estoy bastante conforme. Técnicamente la función de esto es que sea como una caja de regalo, con principios de origami, que yo pueda colocar dentro un regalo, puede ser, por ejemplo un perfume junto con unos chocolates, o lo que sea que se quiera regalar. Y esto esté totalmente cerrado y al abrirlo se pueda abrir por completo, en este caso, al soltar el lazo, se abre la caja por sí sola y se descubre el regalo, la verdad esto es súper fácil de hacer e incluso se puede hacer más pequeño y debe quedar mucho más bonito como para detalles sutiles. It wasn't difficult to make; I think the hard part was finding inspiration for the design, but I'm actually quite happy with it. Technically, the function of this is to be like a gift box, using origami principles, so that I can put a gift inside, such as perfume and chocolates, or whatever you want to give. It's completely closed, and when you open it, it opens completely. In this case, when you untie the bow, the box opens by itself and reveals the gift.
