In Nigeria, you hop on bikes, jump onto buses, run some of the way, take stairs three at a time, and get to your destination only to find out that all you did was hurry up and wait.

I woke up quite early today. I was hoping that I'd sleep in, given that, as of last night, every bone in my body ached. But then, my body never listens to me, even when I mean well for it. My lower back still aches, but I'll live. I would really love to stay in bed, but the day has to go on, and I have to get to work.

I work with a humanitarian based NGO, an affiliation of USAID (United States Agency for International Development), and I love my job, but there are days when I don't look forward to seeing the walls of that office. Today is one of those days, and I know that no amount of coffee or exercise can lift my spirits. As if I do not feel discouraged enough, it starts raining.

Three hours into my day, and I'm still lethargic. So far, I've read a chapter of Fifty shades freed, gossiped with my friend from next door, and eaten a bowl of cereal, whilst waiting the rain out. Then the unexpected happens, my boss calls, he needs me to be a representative at a conference happening in 30 mins, he couldn't be there due to unforseen circumstances. Major bummer!

Our DC superhero, the flash would be impressed at the way I finished bathing and dressing in record time, but I knew that the road would be my undoing. The traffic in Port Harcourt on Monday mornings would rank up high on the world's list, and hoping to get anywhere fast is like hoping and waiting for steem price to rise. You could die from the wait.

By the time I got to the venue, I was an hour late. I'd been literally running and taking stairs three at a time, and then imagine my relief when I discovered that the speaker had not arrived. That relief soon turned to irritation when I'd sat for another hour, without the speaker arriving. After the hustle and bustle to get here quickly, all I'd done was hurry up and wait.
