Two years ago when I was 20, I made half a million in a matter of 3 months. I made all this cash from the least place I'd expected that I would make it from. I was overjoyed, and I had all these plans of how to invest the cash, and turn it into something bigger. About a month later, all the cash was swallowed by the same source from which it came. I was left broke, worse than I was before I'd began. I would tell you how I felt but, there are no words to describe the feeling.
A year ago, my Uncle got into a business deal which looked prospective at first, but on the long run, cost him all his life savings, the trust and respect of his family, his peace of mind, and at some point, his sanity. He was suicidal.
Ten months ago, my best friend put all his eggs in one basket. at first, the business seemed fine, until recession hit hard, and he watched everything go down the drain. His life was shattered in many tiny pieces.
The similarity between these three stories is the joy and pain of the characters being opportunists. The first cut they say, is the deepest, and in our case, it cut through to the bone. That might have been your case too. When life happens, some of us never recover from the shock, and the next time opportunity comes knocking, we don't answer. It keeps knocking, time after time, but we won't answer.
Now, I understand that you have to hide and lick your wounds for some time, but don't do it forever. When life throws you down, dust yourself, and get back up. Don't keep raking things over, learn what you can from what went wrong, and get over it.
No, I don't care what it is that happened, and how you think it wasn't your fault, and how you put in your best. It's all in the past, and that's not where we are anymore. We're looking forward and we're going to have a great life. So there's no need to keep hiding in the dark. Open the blinds, let the sunlight in, and when opportunity calls again, answer.
Oh! By the way, I'm doing great now. My Uncle recovered all he lost, and my best friend's business is booming.
