Details
TextMate is Apple's approach to the operating system into the world of text editors. By bridging the fundamentals of UNIX and GUI, Textmate cherry-chooses the best of both worlds for the benefit of expert scripts and novice users.
TextMate is not an IDE but by using its unique snippet, macro, and scoping system, it can often provide features that are not even owned by a language-specific IDE. It has enough project management features to keep most users happy, but still light with a clean and minimalist GUI.
