As I already wrote in title, I'm going to help you choose the right frame for you.
My advices will be compared to the dioptry and not so much on the face shape.
Today's trend are bigg massive frames but not everybodies face is for every frame. The size of the head, pupil distance and doptry itself, define what frames should we choose.
Ofcourse you can choose every frame you want but not only it will cost you waaay much but also it won't be nicely done like it would be if you follow some tips I'm going to write you.
For the example I will choose a men with,
DIOPTRY :
OD: +6.00 sph
OS: +6.00 sph
PD: 62
He is looking for new frames and he likes one the most. First thing, after we know his dpt and pd, we will measure how long is the frame (from one lens to another).
This frame is 129 mm and his pd is 62 mm.
129-62=67
His lenses would in that case fit in Ø 70 which is too much, the lenses in this dioptry and that diameter would be thicker then in some smaller frame.
Better choice would be if he choose some frame that is long about 125 mm, then his lenses would fit in Ø 65 much better option. The thickness of the lens wouldn't be that visibly.
(+) lenses are convex lenses which are thick at the center, therefore, the bigger dioptry you have the thicker lens would be at the center.
(-) lenses are concave lenses and they have thicker edges, therefore, the bigger dioptry you have the thicker lens would be at the edge.
With today's technology you can make way thiner lens even when the dioptry is big.
So, when coosing how thin you want your lens to be you can help yourself with some example like this on the pic.
You can see how – 6.00 dioptry looks in normal thickness (first from the bottom n= 1.5) and then can see what it would like if you choose n=1.74, the lens would be way thiner at the edges. The difference in mm is about 3.8 mm. Huge difference.
On the right, we have +4.00 dpt lens, as I have said earlier, + is thicker at the center so when you look at the bottom you'll see pretty thick lens (n=1.5) and by choosing first from the top n= 1.74 the center is thiner for about 2.7 mm which is also big difference.
Both examples were shown in Ø 65 which means if the diameter is bigger the lens is even more thick.
Your optician should be able to recommand you the right frame and lenses for you and your needs.
The right eyewear will help you feel better by seeing better. Thiner lenses are easier to your nose and prettier in global.
