It is a solitary insect except for its mating season, where the female and the male look for each other to reproduce and when there is more than one male nearby, they fight to know with whom they will mate, since only one can do it.
The females are larger than the males and usually after copulation the female devours the male, it is believed that this helps the mantis eggs to be loaded with more nutrients and that the quantity of them is considerably more abundant.
It has a head with which it can make a 180° turn, the front legs are provided with small spines, which help them to hold and dismember their victims, when it is on the prowl it remains motionless and with the front legs together it is for this that receives the nickname of praying mantis.
They can be of various colors from strong greens to lighter ones, and ochres. This depends on the environment where it is developing and its final color will be determined by the place where it is living during its last change of skin.
