Plant Identification can be hard even when people know a name for a plant often times they might only know the common name. The scientific name is much more important to communicate the exact plant you are talking about. The scientific name should be in latin a dead language that will never change so no mattef where you are on earth if you know the name in latin a gardener with passion should know what your talking about or at least point you at the plant they think your talking about.
Here is an example.
Notice the little name in the tag is the scientfic name. Yet you can see why the common name is Bunny ear cactus. Well I can see a bunny, I hope you can too.
Another plant that has a history with its common name.
Euphorbia milii or the crown of thorns, this one is a Thai hybrid. This fact is neat because wikipedia states the largest of this kind of plant is in Thailand at the Wat Phrik
