Everyday on the pages of newspapers across this clime are stories of people who are fleeing their native countries in search of greener pastures.
This search is never a new practice but one that keeps increasing as the youths of some African countries compare the standard of living in their country to that of other countries in same Africa or other continents.
Sadly, this search is increasingly becoming a suicide trips, as there as so many obstacles that tend to be against the greener pastures of these unsatisfied mass ranging from hostile weather conditions, hunger, to harsh legal actions taken by the countries they yearn to be resident in.
So many things to say but my major interest is to help reduce this menace. I would like this set of people who are mostly youths to know that greener pastures is nowhere but where there is soil, water and seed. What do I mean?
Here is what I mean.
Every country is blessed with enough resources to that can be utilized to improve her standard of living but much more important is every individual's innate ability. Yes! Every individual has a unique talent, idea, that he or she can use to change things for the better for himself as well as those around him.
Stephen Hawkins is a contemporary example of one who made greener pastures despite his physical limitations. He was determined never to allow them stop him from influencing his world and up till his death, he did not have to go through the struggle these greener pastures migrants have to go through.
Yes, sometimes what you may need to excel better in a field might be in a foreign country but like the adage goes, ' charity begins at home', so does success begin at home.
This greener pastures sought by these people were created by people who were dedicated to seeing a glorious future. The question now is you that is looking elsewhere for greener pastures, how have you utilized what is in your reach? How have you been persistent till success comes. Thomas Edison comes to mind again. How many times have you failed?
Jettison that thought of finding greener pastures elsewhere than where you are not, focus on what you have and where you are and see if the grass will not be greener on your side.
Finally, the last time I checked you get rewarded for what you have to give and a light cannot be hid under a bushel.
