In these regular updates we will bring fresh content to Hive, in the form of our game coding experiences; IBT is a developing PC game - the one to have future Crypto interactions.
The army is coming!
Yeah... it's okay to have a game, but it has to give you the feeling that something is going on; so your surroundings must match your storyline... So for now the tutorial will have a lot of concerned people who need to run away from the army coming from the north. One way to show this is by coming across homes and businesses boarded up and empty for instance.
Mission Selection Drop Down List
Its been a while since our last post but finding some sort of information or a tutorial about a quest system that we wanted was impossible. So sitting back and looking at what we have learnt we asked the question, "Can we do this on our own now?" To make things harder we wanted the list of quests to populate with more missions if we find them. After trial by error and never giving up we came up with a crude but effective mission system in a "ComboBox". Thats right, a combo box where you select a mission/quest and it gives information to you about that quest. So far, with the gif provided, we have made this.......
Main Quest
Here for example is the Main Quest. When pressing tab to access your inventory we now have a quests button to click. This quest will change/update as you do the quest and update as you progress throughout the map. Unlike the other mini quests, main quest must be completed before moving onto the next map.
Testing Quests
So far so good, we can select the quest and get the information that the quest is about on the right hand side of the list. This upcoming week will be programming quest items with hopefully a drag and drop system making things easy for us. Over the last few years we have come pretty far and most tutorials are over and done with, now we are adding our own twisted antisocial uneducated Neanderthal humor and its quite fun!
