In these weekly updates we will bring fresh content to Hive, in the form of our game coding experiences; IBT is a developing PC game - the one to have future Crypto interactions.
What a tough week..
Debugging debugging debugging
Yes, the more complex a game gets the more chances of errors. Collision errors was our main issue this week and as we develop this game more and more its easy to tell why some AAA games charge so much on release. The amount of time that goes into debugging is more than the time that goes into programming...had some tough reminder lessons about backing up the work as well which has really delayed things :(
Tree Felling
If you have ever played the forest or 7 days to Rust there is a unique tree felling system. We are currently looking into this since it gives the game more realism than just having a tree disappear once its chopped down..This needs a bit more play to nail this.
Anyways, that's it for this week. Thanks for following along, we continue to work towards a demo, but the failed backup/restore event we had was not good (won't get into it, but yeah a new import killed us and typical rollback wasn't sufficient; we had to go back to the last full backup (3 months old). Currently importing and fixing to catchup lost ground, but nearly all back so we can continue final works on the demo.
