Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Back to Basics)
I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.
This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Back to Basics and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 馃槆
My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 馃槒
| All units lose all abilities. Summoner effects are still active. |
This ruleset is a strange one, because it will erase all the abilities of all the monsters on the battlefield. This makes the planning of a team more simple and the most important step will be to find the highest damage and Health monsters.
Any Armor piece on a monster would mean a lot, because they can block a full attack even with only one Armor point, so whoever is killing his enemies quicker the more likely they will win the battle. 馃槆
| Ruleset | Description |
|---|---|
| Back to Basics | Monsters lose all abilities. |
| Reverse Speed | Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. |
| Holy Protection | All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability. |
The mana cap was 33 and the Water and Dragon Splinters were banned from this battle. The Back to Basics ruleset makes the battle setup simple, because none of th emonsters has any abilities.
The Reverse Speed ruleset twist a bit on the battle, because it is important to use the lowest attack Speed monsters, which is one if it is possible. This makes this battle a bit more interesting and if my opponent not going to pay enoug hattention to it he might lose the battle before it started.
The Holy Protection is one more layer of protection, because it gives Divine Shield to all of the monsters on the battlefield, so it is quite useless unless you take advantage your Summoner abilities. 馃
My lineup and the decision behind it!
Summoner
Immortalis
Immortalis from the Earth Splinter is an amazing Summoner, because he gives three abilities to all of his monsters and he cost only 6 mana. The first one is to decrease the Health of all the enemy monsters by one. The second is to give the Void ability to his monsters, which will effectively halves all the incoming Magic damage targeting his monsters. The third is the Shatter, which means when a friendly monster attacks and damages his target he will destroy all the remaining Armor on them. 馃槣
First Decoy
Fungus Fiend
The Fungus Fiend has only one Melee attack and one Speed, but two Health. He is a quite weak monster, but he cost zero mana, so he will be able to block at least two attacks from the enemy team thanks to his Divine Shield. 馃槈
Second Decoy
The Mycelic Morphoid has the same exact role like the Fungus Fiend, because the Divine Shield on him will allow him to block two (any kind of) attacks. Sadly he doesn't have the Thorns ability for this battle, because of the Back to Basics ruleset! 馃ぉ
Main Tank
The Pelacor Mercenary will be my main tank and even thought he has quite a lot of Speed, which is not good in the Reverse Speed ruleset, but he has an amazing damage per Health ratio for only 7 mana. 馃構
High Health Damage Dealer
Usually the Mycelic Slipspawn will be the main target of any team, because he has the Taunt ability, but in the Back to Basics ruleset he is just too perfect not to use. Two Magic attack damage and high Health is always welcomed in a low mana ruleset. 馃挭
Damage Dealer
One of my damage dealer will be the Regal Peryton and even thought he has only two Magic attack damage for 5 mana. His main strength is his Magic damage, because they will ignore the enemy Armors completely, so they will kill their monsters much quicker. 馃槅
Main Damage Dealer
The Magi of Chaos is my main damage dealer, because he has +3 Magic attack damag, which is huge in a battle where the mana cap is onyl 33. Luckily none of the monsters are able to attack him at the back of my lineup, so he will be 100% safe there. 馃
My opponent brought Grandmaster Rathe, because he cost 6 mana as well like my Immortalis and he also gives +1 Armor to all of his friendly monsters, which will be not a big deal, but he also gives the Void Armor ability as well, which will enable their monsters to use their Armor stat against the Magic attacks as well. 馃榾
In the first round my opponent attacked my Fungus Fiend and he attacked his tank back and removed his Divine Shield and all of his Armor in return. I have lost him in the first round, but with the help of my Mycelic Morphoid and with their Magic help from my backline they were able to kill their main tank and we lost only the two low mana cost monsters.
In the second round my opponent lost his off-tank as well thanks to my Magic attack monsters.
The third round started killing their Djinn Renova as well and luckily my Pelacor Mercenary had more than enough Health to withstand the enemy attacks. The Void ability on my monsters meant a lot in this battle, because it helped a lot to reduce and sustain their Magic attacks.
I thought I will lose my Pelacor Mercenary in the following round, but luckily he survived this battle with only one Health left. My opponent brought a lot of Magic monster, but they were quite useless against my monsters with the Void ability, so my team managed to win the battle for me. 馃憤
