Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Up Close and Personal)
I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.
This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Up Close and Personal and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. ๐
My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. ๐
| Only units with melee attacks can be used. | ||
| Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks. Units with 2 types of attacks (including melee) can be used. |
This ruleset is one of my favorite one, because it only allows to use Melee attack monsters, so it is much easier to predict what my opponent will bring into the battle.
What makes this battle more interesting is the additional Super Sneak ruleset, because it will enable all Melee attack monsters to attack the last monster from the enemy team even tought they are in the backline and they are unable to attack on their own.
The combination of this two ruleset is amazing and their is a lot of way how to use and position the Melee attack monsters. ๐
| Ruleset | Description |
|---|---|
| Super Sneak | All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability. |
| Up Close and Personal | Only Monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles. |
The mana cap was 48, which is more than enough to use the monsters we want for this battle, but is important to build a solid monster at the back of my team and if it possible use a monster with the Shield ability whereever it possible to halves all the incoming damage. ๐
I have tried to use Yodin Zaku for this battle and even tought his +1 Ranged attack damage is not the best for his team I will try to surprise my opponent with the Blast ability he provides to his friendly monsters.
My lineup and the decision behind it!
Summoner
Yodin Zaku
Yodin Zaku is one of the "old" summoner and he is quite powerful! He cost 7 mana, but he gives +1 Ranged and Health stat to all of his monsters and on top of that he will give the Blast ability to them as well, which means that all of our monsters will damage all the adjacent monsters of their target as well. ๐
Main Tank
Grum Flameblade
Grum Flameblade cost a lot of mana with his 11 mana cost, but he is well worth his price even tought he doesn't have a Shield ability, he has a lot of Health and Armor to withstand the enemy fire for quite some time. His uniqueness is that he has the Bloodlust ability and he is not a Gladiator card. This means when he kills his target he will increase all of his stats by one.
This ability is amazing combined with the Blast, which will makes him to damage the monster behind his target and if he kills that he will also benefit from his Bloodlust ability. ๐
Melee De-buffer and Off-Tank
The Disintegrator is one of the best monster in the Up Close & Personal ruleset, because he has one very important ability, which is the Demoralize. This ability will reduce the Melee attack of all the enemy monsters by one, which creates a huge advantage over the enemy as long as they are not going to bring similar abilties into the fight. ๐
Damage Dealer
The Tenyii Striker has the Sneak ability on its own, so he will attack the last monster from the enemy backline anyway. He has 2 Melee attack damage, because of the enemy Disintegrator, which is alright and on top of that he has the Evade ability to further boost his dodge chance against the incoming attacks. ๐
Sneaker
I used the Uraeus as low mana cost monster who has a little bit of Armor, so he will block a one full attack from the enemy monsters. Originaly he has 2 attack damage, but the de-buff takes one away, so he will damage only one and even his Sneak ability is useless as he is going to get it from the ruleset as well. ๐
Damage Dealer
The Forgotten One is my ace card in this battle, because he has a lot of Health and Armor combined with 4 Melee attack damage, but more importantly he has the Retaliate ability, which means that he will have 50% chance to retaliate back any attack targeting him and if he triggers it he will get an extra attack for that round. ๐
Backline Protector
The Dumacke Orc is an excellent monster, because he has the Shield ability, which means that he will halves all the incoming Melee attack damage, so he might sustain a lot of damage from the enemy monsters. He also has 2 attack damage, which is not that bad for a 6 mana cost monster who got demoralised. ๐
My opponent brought Immortalis who is very good against any Magic attack team, but my opponent could only use his -1 Health de-buff against my team and he provides the Shatter ability, which means that any of the enemy monster hit their target it will destroy their Armor completely.
In this battle my plan is to try to take advantage of the extra Blast damage from my Yodin Zaku and hopefully that extra damage will be enough to try to win this battle.
In the first round my Dumacke Orc suffered an attack and the Shatter ability on the enemy Venari Knifer immediately destroyed his Armor and he only had one Health. His Grund was the next monster to attack and he has the ability to attack twice, so his first attack killed my Dumacke Orc and his second destroyed all the Armor on my Forgotten One.
Luckily the Retaliate triggered on my Forgotten One, so he got an extra attack than his ability triggered again for another free attack, which made a huge damage against the enemy backline. His regular attack killed his last monster who had the Thorns ability, but that one was not enough to kill my Forgotten One.
I was insanely lucky with the trigger rate on my Forgotten One, because in the first round he also got another two extra attack and those damages were absolutley amazing using his 4 Melee attack damage. Even tought my opponent used another Disintegrator he couldn't use his Demoralise ability on my monster, because he had Immunity against all the de-buffs.
In the second round my Forgotten One continued where he left off and got another free attack killing two of his monsters already and my team finished off the rest of his team except his Mycelic Infantry, because he had the Shield ability.
Eventually my team managed to kill his last monster and secured the Victory for me. I was surprised how Yodin and the Forgotten One used their combo to kill the enemy backline thanks to the Super Sneak ruleset. ๐
