Stakeholding aside, Who is Leading Hive Right Now?
You cant put stakeholding aside. Authority, power and influence are directly related to your stake.
The only way anyone can lead Hive is:
- They have a lot of stake.
- A lot of stake backs them.
Aragon in Lord of the Rings who ends up being the true king
Aragorn. ;)
Saying not having leaders makes us decentralized is completely wrong and we have been sold this fantasy for a while. We have selective excercise of power and reactive excercising of power if status quo is threatened. Stakeholders wont come together and make major decisions but they wont proxy their power or let others do it either.
And then theres the: Who actually has the qualities you need in a leader?
Willingness aside... For whom would you say: "Id follow this man into battle!"
I mean you mentioned GTG. Yes, inteligent, great dev, some great qualities. Has the stake to be the leader but is he the guy? I mean, id follow him for a cup of coffee, not into battle though. And thats who you need. Someone made of sheer fucking will and grit.
So we have this weird situation where the stake is concentrated in the hands of a few people that neither have the will or probably the qualities you need for a leader yet they hold the power a leader needs. hahaha. :D
Its so weird. And theyre in like perpetual passivity, no active response, or initiative in this direction. Maintainers of status quo. I am 100% sure to get most of the top 20 active stakeholders to collectively govern in a single direction you would need to threaten status quo. 100% the only time they would act together.
So its doable, if it can be reactive, im sure it can be proactive as well. All you need is a trigger.
