Friends are those whom we know and believe, and those who love us socially and emotionally. Generally friends are those who are like us ourselves. Adult people find friends who are:

• Grew up together
• Working in a similar profession
• Parents of same-sex children
• A person interested in the same thing
• Generally same age and same gender
  
  Adults have 3 or more close friends and 10 or more friends. Men and women have the same number of friends but, women are seen to be more dependent on friendship than men. However, men's friendships are more permanent than women
