Hello all chess enthusiasts, I just want to share the very first chess tournament my two little kids had joined after just a few days of training.
It was around 2 years ago when my two little kids showed interest in playing chess so with the recommendation of a friend whose 4 kids are all amazing chess players, in fact, they were able to travel abroad to join a chess competition, I let them join a training.
But in just about a few days training we were invited to join a tournament which was held at LimKetKai Mall, here in Cagayan de Oro.
Personally, I don't really have an idea about it, but I want my kids to experience a tournament, hoping they would be more interested and serious in their training.
But I was wrong in my decision, after the tournament they were a bit discouraged since they never experienced winning even once in all their games during the tournament.
It was late that I knew that the participants of the tournaments were already chess experts from different places like Bukidnon and Iligan, adjacent cities.
Imagine, my 7-year-old boy had played against a 30 to 40 years old chess player. I don't really understand it well, its like a round-robin where one will be playing all of the members of the other group.
Anyhow, the experience is worth it, at least during that time my kids were able to learn discipline and determination, that no matter what, they are there to play and that they just have to enjoy it.
So even if the loose, at least at their very young age they were able to experience playing in a tournament.
This time even if I wanted to let them join tournaments again or continue with their training it would not be possible because of the pandemic, I'm hoping this pandemic will end so soon so we could go back to our normal life again, and my kids will be able to continue their training.
