As I strolled along the riverbank, I admired the quaint stone cottages adorned with vibrant flowers. The early autumn leaves were just beginning to change color, creating a beautiful tapestry of golds and reds. I stopped by the famous Model Village, a miniaturized version of Bourton itself, which provided a fascinating glimpse into the area’s history and architecture.
Continuing on my walk, I headed towards Upper and Lower Slaughter, two nearby villages that are often considered some of the most beautiful in England. The path was lined with sheep grazing peacefully in the fields, and I even spotted a few ancient stone walls that date back hundreds of years, a reminder of the region’s long history.
Along the way, I met a lovely couple who were also out enjoying the scenery. They were locals who shared stories about the area and pointed out some hidden gems, like a small, lesser-known waterfall just a short detour from the main path. It was delightful to hear their insights and recommendations for future walks.
As I wrapped up my walk, I made my way to a cozy tearoom where I treated myself to a scone with clotted cream and jam—an absolute must when in the Cotswolds! The entire experience was a perfect blend of natural beauty, rich history, and friendly encounters, making it a memorable day in one of England’s most enchanting regions.
