As I ambled along the winding paths beside the river, I marveled at the traditional stone cottages, their honey-coloured limestone glistening in the sunlight. Many of them date back to the 16th century, and I found myself imagining what life would have been like for the villagers back then. The sound of birds chirping and the gentle flow of the river created a serene atmosphere, perfect for reflecting on the historical significance of the area.
I also passed by the iconic Old Mill, now a museum, which offered insights into the local history and the traditional crafts that were once central to Cotswolds life. It was fascinating to see the old machinery and learn about the milling process.
Along the way, I met a lovely elderly couple who were also enjoying the walk. They recounted their memories of the village and spoke of how it has evolved over the decades.
