As I wandered along the footpaths, I was greeted by lush green fields dotted with sheep and the occasional curious cow. The dry-stone walls, a hallmark of the region, added to the picturesque scenery. I made my way past traditional Cotswold stone cottages, their honey-colored walls glowing warmly in the afternoon sun.
Along the trail, I met a lovely elderly couple who were also enjoying a walk. They shared stories about the history of the area—how many of these villages were built during the wool trade's boom in the 18th century. It was fascinating to hear about how the local economy thrived back then and how many of the buildings were created using the local limestone, which gave the region its unique charm.
As I continued on, I came across the famous llama farm outside of Bourton. It was quite a sight to see the llamas roaming freely! The owners were very welcoming, and they even let me feed one of the llamas, which was a highlight of my day.
I ended my walk at a quaint teahouse where I enjoyed a delicious slice of homemade cake and a cup of tea, reflecting on the beauty of the Cotswolds and the wonderful people I had met. It's experiences like these that make each walk a unique adventure and a journey through history and nature alike.
